Based on the Dorset coast of England we will have access to both the history and natural history of this stunning coastline. The Jurassic Coast is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and our week may include visits to the Abbotsbury Swannery; Corfe Castle, a 17th century ruin; Radipole Lake, an RSPB bird sanctuary; Kimmeridge Bay; Lulworth Cove; Tyneham; Portland Bill; Chesil Beach, and villages with quintessential thatch roof cottages. We'll explore the fossil laden beaches of this coast where fossil hunters have made astounding discoveries, and learn about the history of one of Dorset's heroes, Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy, who fought alongside Admiral Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. We'll also see sunrises and sunsets....weather permitting!
This is a customizable tour so we can make it all about birding, or a mixture of landscape, nature and wildlife!

Accommodations:
We will be staying in an award winning luxury barn conversion nestled in the countryside of Abbotsbury, Dorset. We'll be a brief walk from the abbey ruins, the Swannery, and village, where you'll find streets of thatch-roofed cottages. You may not want to leave!

- Please note, if you are paying by credit card, a 3% charge will be added to your total. To keep the prices low on this trip I am working at very small margins, so I appreciate your understanding. Let me know if you'd rather pay by check and I'll let you have my address.

- Group size is 3-5 attendees (5 if sharing a room)
- Plan to arrive at our designated meeting point (to be determined) at Heathrow airport. Most flights from SC & NC are overnight and arrive very early in the morning. If you do not want to arrive in the morning, please book your flight to arrive one day early and arrange a hotel for one night in or around Heathrow.
- The pickup from our meeting point (to be determined) for travel to our Dorset location is a group booking. If you're not there at the right time, or in the right place, you will need to make your own way at your expense to our accommodations in Dorset.
- You will be returned to Heathrow, or to Weymouth train station if you'd like to continue your stay in England.
- It's England, it's more than likely going to rain! Be prepared for yourself and your gear.
- We will be hiking along paths that can be slippery, muddy, and steep.
- Our days will involve early mornings and many miles of walking, often on unpaved terrain, so please ensure you are in good health and arrange for your own medical emergency insurance.
